 It's a parasite that Dog can pick up from slugs and snails and it gets into the body system and causes all sorts of problems.

Cause of Lung Worms in Pets :
It is caused by lung or tracheal worm Oslerus osleri.

Signs Of Lung Worms :
- Cough. 
- Increased respiration " Respiratory rate " .
- ٌRespiratory distress or failure in severe cases .
- Some animals might have infection with no clinical obvious signs.
- Blood from the nose.

Diagnosis of Lung Worms :
1- Signs.
2- Fecal Examination and presence of larvae " but it might not be very helpful as larvae in feces is very few in number so bronchoscopy can be used to make smear from the trachea to be examined by microscope for larvae , egg, or lung worm presence .
3- Endoscope and Bronchoscopy for examination of air passage .
4- X-Rays Examination .

Treatment Of Lung worms :
1- Anti-parasitic Drugs " Levimisole 1 ml/25 K.g Body Weight by s.c injection repeated after 15 days .
2- Surgical removal of the nodule might be necessary in severe infections .
3- Continue treatment with anti parasitic  for 2 months.
