Why dogs eat grass and is that a normal behavior ?
The truth is is that that behavior might be normal depending on exactly what's going on so what I mean by that is a certain amount of nibbling on grass can be a normal behavior for dogs, you know you take your dog out for a walk and there's some grass there and they may just take a little old taste here and there i find this is particularly true during the springtime when the grass is fresh and green they seem like it's really tasty at that time of year so that that is a normal behavior .
Conversely if your dog is going outside and just munching on entire clumps of grass and swallowing these huge mouthfuls of grass and then very frequently vomiting there after that is not a normal behavior and that you know that brings up the question of is there a medical condition going on and and you know possibilities there could range from some sort of just short-term gastrointestinal upset it could be that they have a GI upset or some sort of nutritional imbalance related to their food or some kind of underlying medical condition there's a lot of potential reasons why that could be and if your dog is a kind of a compulsive grass eater and or a compulsive vomit, that is absolutely something that you should talk with your veterinarian about .
Similarly as it pertains to cats , cats will display very similar behaviors a little bit of nibbling on grass ,again as normal for cats and even the occasional vomit for for cats can be normal but but doing that in excess again can lead to or be a sign of all the same problems that we spoke about for dogs .
